Philly’s 4th of July 2026: America’s 250th Birthday Celebration Takes Over the Parkway

Wanda Sykes hosts a star-studded night featuring Christina Aguilera, Jill Scott, The Roots, Will Smith and DJ Jazzy Jeff

June 3, 2026

Philadelphia's Wawa Welcome America is preparing for one of the biggest Independence Day celebrations in its history, as the city marks America’s 250th birthday with a massive, multi-day festival that builds toward the July 4th finale on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway.

The centerpiece event, “One Philly: Unity Concert for America,” brings together major artists, hometown legends, and special guests for a free public concert and fireworks show that honors both the city’s role in American history and its influence on music and culture.

Hosted by comedian Wanda Sykes, the July 4th concert features appearances by Gillie Da King and Wallo 267 and a lineup that reads like a cross-generational Philly and national music showcase. Performers include Christina Aguilera, Jill Scott, Seal, and The Roots, along with special guests Will Smith and DJ Jazzy Jeff. The celebration also includes Kathy Sledge and a State Property reunion featuring Freeway, Beanie Sigel, Young Gunz, and Peedi Crakk.

The event is expected to draw huge crowds to the Parkway, culminating in a fireworks display over the Philadelphia Museum of Art. It serves as the final night of the Wawa Welcome America festival, a 16-day citywide celebration that runs from Juneteenth through the Fourth of July and fills Philadelphia with concerts, block parties, museum access, and community programming.

Need to Know Before You Go

  • Expect a large crowd. This is one of the biggest free events in the country, and attendance will likely stretch across the Benjamin Franklin Parkway hours before the show begins.
  •
  • Security will be tight. Bag checks and restricted items are standard for large city events, and early arrival is strongly encouraged.
  •
  • Public transit is the best option. Road closures and limited parking are expected around Center City and the Parkway area throughout the day.

  • Bring what you need for a long outdoor day. That means water, sunscreen, portable seating if allowed, and weather-ready gear.

  • The concert is part of a broader citywide celebration. Expect activity across museums, historic sites, and public spaces throughout the day, not just at the main stage.

  • The night ends with fireworks over the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
