Black Men Heal and Pushing Progress Philly Host Workforce Readiness Job Fair & Workshop

Supporting Economic Mobility and Mental Wellness

June 3, 2026

PHILADELPHIA, PA — Black Men Heal, in partnership with Pushing Progress Philly and sponsored by The Civic Coalition to Save Lives, will host a Workforce Readiness Job Fair & Workshop on Thursday, June 25, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m at 2613 Hunting Park Ave., Philadelphia, PA.

The event will connect Philadelphia workforce development participants with employment opportunities, career preparation resources, mentorship, and supportive services designed to promote confidence, stability, and long-term success.

The free community event will take place in Philadelphia and aims to create a one-stop resource hub where men and community members can prepare for interviews, access employers, receive professional support, and explore career pathways that contribute to both economic mobility and overall well-being.

The day will include free haircuts, professional clothing through a Dress for Success-style initiative, complimentary food, career guidance, networking opportunities, and direct access to employers hiring for full-time, part-time, internship, and workforce training positions across multiple industries.

Kenneth Thompson, deputy chief of staff for Councilmember Cindy Bass, will serve as the featured speaker during the workshop portion of the event.

Black Men Heal Founder Tasnim Sulaiman said the initiative is rooted in the understanding that healing extends beyond therapy alone.

“We know mental wellness is deeply connected to dignity, stability, confidence, and opportunity,” said Sulaiman. “Employment can change the trajectory of someone’s life. This event is about helping people feel prepared, supported, and seen while creating real pathways toward economic empowerment and healing.”

Organizers say the event was intentionally designed to remove barriers that often prevent people from accessing opportunities and presenting their best selves professionally.

Participants will have opportunities to:

  • Connect directly with employers and workforce organizations
  • Receive free haircuts and professional attire support
  • Learn interview and workplace readiness skills
  • Access mentorship, career guidance, and community resources
  • Build confidence in a supportive environment focused on growth and opportunity

The event reflects Black Men Heal’s broader mission to support Black men and underserved communities through culturally responsive healing, mental health advocacy, and practical support systems that strengthen lives beyond crisis intervention.

As conversations around mental health continue nationally, organizations like Black Men Heal are increasingly emphasizing the relationship between emotional wellness, financial stability, employment access, and community support.
