AVANTBLK Debuts at Cherry Street Pier with "Essence in Black, "A Bold New Celebration of Black Creativity, Culture and Community

Philadelphia's Newest Cultural Festival Invites Thousands to Experience Music, Art, Fashion, Entrepreneurship and Black Excellence on the Waterfront

PHILADELPHIA, PA — On Saturday, August 8, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM, AVANTBLK will make its inaugural debut at Cherry Street Pier, introducing Philadelphia to a new cultural experience dedicated to celebrating the brilliance, innovation, and influence of Black creativity.

Presented by HIIKII EVENTS and produced by Executive Producer Fitch Means, AVANTBLK is a multidisciplinary festival where music, visual arts, fashion, entrepreneurship, community engagement, and culture converge in one immersive experience.

 

This year's inaugural theme, "Essence in Black," celebrates the heart of Black culture—our creativity, resilience, imagination, style, innovation, and collective spirit.

Throughout the festival, guests will discover live performances, dynamic DJs, visual artists creating work in real time, immersive cultural activations, curated shopping experiences, waterfront dining, networking opportunities, and unforgettable moments that reflect the richness and diversity of Black culture.

AVANTBLK was intentionally designed to be more than a music festival. It is a platform
that uplifts artists, supports Black-owned businesses, amplifies community organizations, and creates opportunities for meaningful connection while showcasing the next generation of Black creative excellence.
 

    "AVANTBLK was born from the belief that Black creativity deserves spaces that are as     bold, innovative, and inspiring as the people who create it," said Fitch Means, Executive     Producer of AVANTBLK. "'Essence in Black' is about celebrating who we are at our core.      It's about honoring our culture, embracing our individuality, and creating an experience     where everyone feels inspired, represented, and connected."
